Even the authors of the original assault weapons ban agreed
it had absolutely no effect on violent crime in the US. All the any assault
weapons ban will do is restrict honest Americans 2nd Amendment rights.

Reality of the assult weapons ban
The highest number of gun violence in US history was in
1929. Mass shootings have been on a steep decline in recent years. In the 1980’s
there were 32 mass shootings in the US. In the 1990’s there were 42 mass
shootings even after the Brady Bill Assault Weapons Ban was passed. Between
2000 and 2009 there were only 26 mass shootings in the US and the assault
weapons ban expired in 2004. Since 1992 school shootings have dropped 42%.
